Homecoming Traditional Music Sessions
A special programme of traditional music sessions is being held the length and breadth of the country in celebration of Scotland's year of Homecoming.
Organised by the Traditional Music & Song Association of Scotland (TMSA), the sessions are dynamic, informal music and social events and open for all to take part.
So, if you are attending, bring along friends, instruments or simply kick back and enjoy the party. The sessions will be led by at least two musicians who the TMSA will organise to attend every planned session.
Scotland’s music and song reflects the complex nature of Scotland’s cultural heritage. Some tunes and songs are particularly linked to an area - some are more general. Some relate to particular periods or events in history. They can also reflect the language life of the area - fishing, agriculture, or the local industries. Everything is included - work, love, battle, laments, supernatural stories.
Check out the list below and join one (or more) of these fantastic events taking place across Scotland over the coming year. Experience great music, sample a few real ales and of course enjoy some bantor with the locals along the way.
