Scottish Restaurant Awards 2012

Generic RestaurantThe crème de la crème of EatScotland’s Quality Assurance Scheme picked up prizes at the recent Scottish Restaurant Awards hosted by Scottish television and radio presenter Tam Cowan at the Glasgow Science Centre.

Cucina at Hotel Missoni won Best Italian of the Year at the prestigious award ceremony thanks to head chef Mattia Camorani’s efforts in preparing simple food using fresh, seasonal ingredients with a bold, Italian fair.

Other EatScotland accredited restaurants which received awards include Cruize at Auchrannie Resort on the Isle of Arran which won Best Family Friendly Restaurant of the Year.

The Best Customer Service of the year went to The Scottish Cafe and Restaurant in Edinburgh, and Gordon’s Restaurant in Angus won Best Rural Restaurant of the Year. Jeff Bland of Number One at the Balmoral in Edinburgh picked up the prize for Best Chef of the Year.

Runners up included the Airds Hotel in Argyll for Best Hotel Restaurant of the Year, The Hounours in Edinburgh for Newcomer of the Year and The Grill Room at the Square in Glasgow for Best Customer Service of the Year.

The Scottish Restaurant Awards were jointly sponsored by 5pm.co.uk and Business Insider and saw top eateries across Scotland competing for the prestigious prizes across 14 categories.

Other fantastic restaurants which received awards included Mithas in Edinburgh for Best Indian Restaurant of the Year, Opium in Glasgow for Best Oriental Restaurant of the Year, Castle Terrace in Edinburgh for Most Innovative Restaurant of the Year, Cock & Bull in Aberdeen for Best Pub Grub of the Year, Chez Roux - Greywalls in Gullane for Best Hotel Restaurant of the Year, The Wee Hurrie in Troon for Best Takeaway Restaurant of the Year and Kanpai Sushi in Edinburgh for Newcomer of the Year.
