Generic RestaurantItihaas is an award-winning Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant in Dalkeith which recently received an accolade from the world’s largest travel website.

The restaurant was awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence which is given to businesses, restaurants, accommodationproviders and attractions that are rated well by travellers.

To qualify for the prestigious commendation, businesses must maintain an average rating of four out of a possible five marks as reviewed by visitors on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include the number of reviews and how recently they were submitted.

Christine Petersen, President of TripAdvisor for Business, explained: “Our Certificate of Excellence programme gives exceptional businesses the recognition they deserve.”

Itihaas has also been awarded the EatScotland award for quality food and service by VisitScotland and earlier this year it was voted the best South Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant in Scotland. Itihass was also one of four finalists in the Indian category of the 2011 Scottish Restaurant of the Year Awards.

After hearing the news of his restaurant’s latest honour, Director Matin Khan commented: “At Itihaas we strive all the time to offer our customers a memorable dining experience. This accolade is further evidence that our staff’s hard work and skills are continuing to be appreciated by customers who travel from near and far to enjoy our food.”

Itihaas is situated on Esbank Road in Dalkeith and serves a delicious range of traditional Indian and Bangladeshi dishes, alongside a more modern Tapas style menu served on Thursday evenings that gives you the option to try a selection of renowned cuisine.
