Dumfries & Galloway based Savour the Flavours has launched a new food festival which takes place between 4 - 7 May.
Flavour Taster is a bite-sized food and drink festival designed to whet foodies’ appetites for Savour the Flavours’ two-week summer festival, Flavour Fortnight. The festival is a celebration of local and artisan producers and eateries with a programme of over 30 fantastic events.
Liz Ramsay, Project Manager of Savour the Flavours, said: “Flavour Taster gives us an opportunity to put quality local food and drink right at the heart of the tourism experience in Dumfries & Galloway. We have some truly world class products in this region, as well as inspirational people in the industry who are happy to share their passion with visitors to Dumfries & Galloway.
“The success of Flavour Fortnight in becoming one of Scotland’s biggest food festivals in just two years is a testament to the creativity and the enthusiasm of the industry here.”
One of the highlights of the festival is a two-hour foraging session in Gatehouse of Fleet with an expert followed by a sumptuous six-course tasting menu prepared using wild foods from fresh seafood and wild garlic to warming sloe gin. Other events include a tour of the Sulwath Brewery in Castle Douglas, Langholm Farmers’ Market and a chance to see lambs being born at Auchenree Lambing Live! on the Saturday and Sunday.
