New beer FestivAle launched to mark Flavour Fortnight
Wed, 07 Sep 2011
Sulwath Brewers in Castle Douglas have produced a new real ale especially for Flavour Fortnight 2011.
The humorously-named Flavour Fortnight FestivAle will be available on draft from Sulwath Brewers and selected local bars and hotels during Dumfries & Galloway’s Flavour Fortnight.
Allen Henderson, Managing Director of Sulwath Brewers, explained: “We wanted to create a special celebratory beer for Flavour Fortnight that highlighted the rich, flavoursome experience that can be created by using only natural ingredients and traditional brewing methods. FestivAle is absolutely full of flavour.”
Henderson described the ale as a “deep ruby red coloured beer with a hoppy character and a sweetish fruity aftertaste - a delicious way to raise a toast to Flavour Fortnight.”
FestivAle will be on sale at Sulwath Brewers in Castle Douglas from Monday - Saturday between 11am -6pm throughout Flavour Fortnight. Learn more about the art of brewing with a free behind the scenes tour of the brewery, including samples of beer, on Monday 12th September at 1pm.
The annual Flavour Fortnight is a celebration of Scottish produce and showcases the best local food and drink. Organised by Savour the Flavours, the event runs from 3 - 18 September and is part of Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight which has 160 exciting foodie events scheduled this year - 92 of which are being held in Dumfries & Galloway.
Liz Ramsay of Savour the Flavours, said: “The Flavour Fortnight programme is a fantastic example of the creativity and passion of the people working in Dumfries & Galloway’s food and drink industry. Sulwath Brewers are one of Scotland’s leading independent brewers and their traditional approach, insistence on high quality, natural ingredients and product innovation is helping them go from strength to strength.”
On the creation of the new real ale Ramsay continued: “I’m thrilled that they’ve decided to mark the growing importance of our regional food and drink event by creating a brand new product for people to enjoy.”
