Perth restaurant gets taste of another top title
Perth restaurant 63 Tay Street is in line for yet another top accolade, having been shortlisted in the 2011 Scottish Restaurant of the Year Awards.
It has been named as one of only three finalists in the Urban Restaurant category. The other two finalists are in or near Glasgow.
The shortlisting is a further success for Chef/Patron Graeme Pallister, voted Executive of the Year in the 2010 Scottish Hotel Awards for his work at the restaurant's sister hotel in Perth, Parklands.
Earlier this year 63 Tay Street joined a select group of establishments after being awarded the Gold standard by EatScotland, the food and drink arm of national tourism body VisitScotland. It made 63 Tay Street the only restaurant in Perthshire to hold the rating apart from double Michelin-starred Andrew Fairlie's at Gleneagles Hotel, and one of only 13 in the whole of Scotland.
'I'm glad my passion for preparing and serving great food has helped get the restaurant into the final three because we were up against very stiff competition,' said Graeme.
He added: 'It's another testimonial to the consistently high quality we're always aiming for as well as the continuing strong support we receive from customers, and shows again that when it comes to fine dining Perth can more than hold its own with any other city or town in Scotland.'
Judges will now visit the finalists anonymously and rate them against a set list of criteria, with the awards announced at a ceremony at the Glasgow Science Centre on 28 February 2011.
