Hardiesmill Farm

10 steaks

The 'Hardiesmill 10 Steak Experience' is a day not to be missed, providing a fun day out for foodies and an ideal present for the harder to please. Run on the farm on a Friday afternoon in small groups, guests are greeted with a light lunch before a tour of the farm and cattle.

During the day you will learn about "happy cattle", what the difference is between "free range" and "organic", why the fillet is so expensive and what the cheaper steaks taste like.

The tour covers background of the farm and covers Aberdeen Angus breeding, feeding and handling and the difference and impact of each on eating. Learn about marbling, hanging and maturing of meat as well as the impact on each.
Following a butchery demonstration, it's back to the farmhouse to taste ten different steaks from ten different parts of the same carcass. The day's objective is to give a good understanding of what is important when choosing your beef to ensure you get the best possible eating experience for your money.

Every steak, even if from the same beast, has a different flavour and level of tenderness. Compare Feather steak, Thick Rib, Fillet, Ribeye, Rump (Popeseye), Bavette, Onglet, Flash Fry, Sirloin, False Fillet &/or Carbonnade in one sitting so you can identify which ones appeal the most to both your taste buds and your wallet!

The "10 Steak Experience" takes place on the 4th Friday of the month, starting at 12.30pm and finishing at around 5.00pm. Please call 01573 410797 to check availability. Tickets are £37.50, typically eight people to a group. Alternative dates may be available for group bookings. Accomodation available.
