A memorable, magical and mouthwatering experience.
|
Located in a historic sixteenth-century building at the gates of Edinburgh Castle, we aim to create memorable and magical dining experiences for locals, visitors and celebrities alike.
The Witchery is rich, warm and atmospheric, its oak-panelled walls hung with tapestries, mirrors and carvings. The painted and gilded ceilings celebrate our links with France in the Auld Alliance, whilst much of the panelling was rescued from St Giles Cathedral and a Burgundian Chateau.
We source the very best of Scottish produce which features on a classic menu in a relaxed and unfussy style. Scottish lobster and rock oysters regularly feature alongside Witchery classic dishes such as hot smoked salmon with leeks and hollandaise or Angus beef fillet with smoked garlic broth.
EatScotland Says:
A most atmospheric Dining Room at the Witchery for candlelit lunches and dinners that is an oasis of calm on the Royal Mile. Or the secret conservatory for a family gathering.
Witchery shellfish bisque, rouille, croutons and gruyere: "The soup was served in a delightful cast-iron mini soup tureen with separate ramekins containing grated gruyere and rouille and had a vivid orange colour." "Velvet smooth and tasted of fresh fish. There was a hint of Tabasco and it was clear that a good quality stock had been used." "A classic Mediterranean combination." "An extremely well made soup."
