Rockfish is a family owned fish and chip shop / cafe. We have been awarded 4 Stars from Seafish and are working towards achieving 5. Our family has over 100 years of experience in fishing and supply Rockfish through our own vessel, Audacious, one of 7 in Scotland to pilot CCTV on board to demonstrate our commitment to sustainable fishing.
We are based in the Aberdeenshire village of Whitehills, we supply an extensive fish menu where haddock, smoked haddock, lemon sole, skate, rock turbot, halibut and cod are all available.
Downies of Whitehills (also with a 100 year tradition) process our fish and supply us with their award winning products.

I went to the Rockfish with my family and I ordered 4 haddock suppers. There was a choice of a half fish or a full fish and I opted for the full fish. I was then presented with 3 half fish fillets. I asked the girl when we were getting the other half and she said that it was a full fish. I told her that it wasn't then she said that it had 'curled up'. It was obvious as we were holiday makers that we were being ripped off as there were locals who were getting full haddock fillets when asked for. I have spent 10 years working as a fisherman previously as had 3 generations before me so I know what a fish looks like! The batter was foul and the chips were underdone. Don't go there and save yourself from disappointment.

I could not believe it! This fish and chip shop is meant to be owned by fishermen however I think the best of the catch bypasses the Rockfish. Very poor quality haddock and most alarmingly is that you only get half of a fillet of an already anorexic fish. The batter was like deep fried wallpaper paste and the chips were anaemic. To cap it all off I was served by a completely disinterested teenager. Very disappointed!
