Blog | Whiskies 'Return Home' To Scotland
The world’s largest collection of whiskies has ‘returned home’ to Scotland after months of preparation and a 6,500 mile journey from Sao Paulo.
Brazilian whisky enthusiast Claive Vidiz collected whiskies from around the globe for 35 years – with his 3,384 bottles ranging from the most popular tipples to the rarest.
The collection was bought by drinks manufacturer Diageo and will be exhibited at the Scotch Whisky Experience on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile next year.
The rare bottles include a limited edition Strathmill single malt, produced to mark the distillery’s centenary - of which only 100 were made - and one of the first special edition Scotch whiskies called Dimple Pinch.
Mr Vidiz commented: “We have an expression in Brazil, ‘the good son returns home’, and in my view the collection is back with its family now.”
A specially designed vault will be created to display the collection at the five-star Scotch Whisky Experience next year.

One of my favourite whiskies is called Bruichladdich. Try the 10 year old as a nice, easy introduction to Islay whiskies. If you're visiting Islay, then make sure you go on the Bruichladdich Distillery tour.
